Ready To Open A Bed And Breakfast? Use These Three Tips To Ensure The HVAC Unit Is Used As Efficiently As Possible

When you purchase an old home that you plan to turn into a bed and breakfast, it is important to make sure that the temperature within the home can be properly regulated so that all of your guests are as comfortable as they can be at all times. The guide below walks you through a few things to consider to ensure that your bed and breakfast business thrives.

Have Separate Thermostats Installed in Each Room

A great way to ensure that everyone is as comfortable as they can be is to have thermostats installed in each of the rooms within your bed and breakfast where guests will be staying. This will allow everyone to set the temperature within their room to the exact temperature that makes them feel the most comfortable. When people are able to set the temperature in their room to a setting that is comfortable with them, they will be more likely to stay longer and more likely to come back in the future.

Close the Vents to Rooms that Are Not Being Used

If you do not have a lot of guests coming to your bed and breakfast during certain times of the year, close the vents to those rooms. There is no need to heat or cool those rooms if they are not being used. Open the vents a few hours before guests are scheduled to arrive to bring the rooms to a comfortable temperature. This will save you money on your heating and cooling costs because you will not be paying to heat and cool the entire bed and breakfast when not all of it is being used.

Check the Thermostats After Guests Leave

Be sure to go into rooms after the guests leave to change the thermostat back to a reasonable temperature. If the thermostat is set too high or too low, the heat or air could run nonstop because the thermostat will never be able to reach the set temperature after you close the vents to the room until new guests are scheduled to arrive.

When you first purchase the home, have a thorough inspection of the HVAC unit done to ensure that it is working as well as it possibly can. Any outdated or damaged parts should be replaced as soon as possible to keep your utility costs to a minimum. There are many times when vents simply need to be cleaned or Freon needs to be added to an air conditioning unit to get everything working as well as it can.
